The Helicopter Ride

Wow! I just had the most amazing experience....my first helicopter ride! What an amazing bird's eye view of the surrounding Sonoma Valley that I live in. I flew with my son, Austin, who at 19, has his helicopter pilot's license. We met at the Charles Schultz Airport in Santa Rosa. I was really exited about my first fly. Austin has spent over a year learning to fly and I wanted to show my support by flying with him. I was a little nervous at first, but after watching him set up the helicopter, check the start up proceedures and call in to the control tower, I felt confident that he knew what he was doing...finally, take off!. It was fantastic. He lifted us up in this little bubble of a flying machine, the Robinson 22, no bigger than a small two-seater compact car.... steady and slowly...into the air over Santa Rosa....only 800 ft. up! What a view! I could see cars on the freeway, people in their backyards, kids playing on the soccer at the high school. WoW! Birds are so lucky to see this view!
